Lost mine as a carpenter with the percussion of a framing gun and my circular saw. Geez I hate spending money those things. Maybe I'll appreciate them once I can hear again. No doubt the first thing I'll probably say is why did I wait so long?

Wow, that cool all ready. 65 here this morning in East Texas and going to mid 80's. Still quite warm here. Didn't realize you drank your coffee outside Tom, the vertible night rider.

After riding my SW to town yesterday to run to the bank and check out a job, I realized that my SW is the perfect scooter for me and like it more than any bike or scooter I have ever owned. The aftermarket Saddleman seat is extremely comfortable, has a perfect fit for my height and body size, has Goldwing like storage and is equally adept at putting around town or running at highway speeds on state highways. I find myself using the SW nearly all the time as the BW isn't being ridden as much. My SW is a keeper and will be my primary ride into my golden years. My wife has also hoped for a horse forever as we've been clearing a pasture and soon to fence off a section for a horse. So I told Deb I was going to sell the BW and use the funds for a horse for her. Being the pragmatic soul she is, she said not until you get a hearing aid. Dang aging thang.

Nice but what are the conditions of the road? Looks kinda rough in the pic with the red car.

Those lights look amazing. Don't know if I've used mine on my BW. You're the vertible night rider Tom.

Grandvista 250 / Re: 'Total loss', says insurance. Keep for parts?

Even if you're not mechanical, some of the easy stuff to take off and sell will more than make your money back like the Givi top box. There also may be parts like the top box that can swap over to another scooter. Some folks like to buy handyman specials as you could make someone a good deal on it. Daughter lives in Portland and seems like a scooter friendly city as there should be some interest in this.

Xciting 500 / Re: How much Money do you invest in your Xciting500 annually?

The bigger the  scoot the more cash needed to keep it running is what i have found,as every part is larger, and more expensive when compared to smaller  scoots.

Not true for me. I only spend about 30.00 a year on an oil change for my Honda SW 600cc. Have a car tire on rear that will go 40k so that's it except for fuel. Darn thing never breaks down or needs parts. Amazing scooter.

There are a fair number of early risers. I tried using the scooter when I had it to run daytime errands, but the traffic here in the SF Bay Area has gotten bad. Folks are in a rush and safety and courtesy have gone out the window. Good for you all that can run around town to do errands and what not.

I know what you mean. Visited SF this summer and have to say the drivers there are the most agressive and rudest of any place we drove on our 5000 mile road trip. I would not want to ride there either. Used to live in Palo Alto. Don't miss living there. Sorry for you though having to navigate such a mess.

Beautiful pics and looks like a picture perfect day for a ride. See lots of Vespa's and perhaps 2 Maxiscooters. Thanks for sharing.

As a self employed General Contractor, my daily driver is a 3/4 ton diesel PU. However, I look for any excuse to take the scooter to do bids, banking, errands, shopping and coffee runs like Tom. For me, it's more spontaneous as I work in rides around work and family. Occasionally, I'll do a few long rides a year and attend motorcycle meet and greets or do a long solo ride up into Arkansas or Oklahoma on my SW.

Maybe a sign. Wonder what it all means? Very strange indeed. Maybe need to scout this out again.

Imagine the Liberty with 10" wheels? Amazing how wheels can make a small scooter look so big.

I must say that being in a big city like San Francisco, it is so nice to have phone gps. I personally like the new mapping technology but like you said Paul, we should know how to use both. It's not a matter if electronic mapping is going to not work but when. BTW, still use paper maps when traveling on a bike. Phone screens too hard to see in bright sunlight. If following a route, one can write directions on 1" blue masking tape and stick on windshield. Stays put and easy to remove. Got this idea from a Goldwing rider friend of  mine
