Xciting 700i / Need SENSOR CAM POSITION Kymco 37292-LBF2-900 help.
« on: December 23, 2020, 10:14:30 AM »
I have forgotten where to look on this site for who is recommended.
Honestly, trying to get SENSOR CAM POSITION Kymco 37292-LBF2-900 is difficult. I have two on order from France. I believed they had them but it's three weeks now. The shop said they couldn't get one.
If anyone has a spare I'm ready to pay premium.

UPDATE:

I had not received a Email telling me the part had shipped nor did the mechanic tell me they received the part.
So my panic was not necessary.
This was ordered from www.bike-parts-kymco.uk and shipped out of France.
As I understand things Brexit is stopping imports to the UK right now but the way this works is whoever has parts ships to USA. Mind you shipping is expensive but I couldn't even locate a Myroad 700i cam sensor in Taiwan!
Well I did pay for two and I am told only one arrived so there is that but they say they can make things right.
So phew! I got one at least!

Xciting 700i / An interesting issue.
« on: August 28, 2020, 11:47:33 PM »
I have experience an interesting issue with starting my Myroad 700i and I wonder if anyone has had the same experience.

5 times now my Myroad has turned over but either fired only one cylinder intermittently or neither of the cylinders.  It will not start and no the kick stand is not down.

I now know when it is going to happen now because the RPM goes to 5K when I crank. Otherwise before I saw that it let me run the battery down and not start.

Now, when I wait an hour, it starts right up even when it sounded like I ran the battery down dead with a solenoid buzzing sound signaling a dead battery to me.

* The Battery is OEM so it can and may be replaced but it's really low mileage so I have not seen it as a direct concern especially when the scooter starts right up after it seems to have run down.

I am ready to take it in and fix whatever but I thought to ask first.
It sounds like an electrical issue to me.

Roadcraft / Push Left Go Left - Push Right Go Right
« on: July 18, 2020, 02:27:01 AM »
Today was one of those days when I planned a five mile round trip to get a bite to eat and stop at the store but turned into a fifty mile ride.
I awoke today late as I have been from watching the news and movies on up to two in the morning. I knew I felt depressed. After all I am staying home as much as I can because of Covid-19. So, as I traveled I started feeling better.
Let me set the scene. It is a medium hot summer day. The sun is bright and I do feel the heat but with the rush of wind when riding, air mixes in for a perfect riding environment.
At first it is Light to Light in city riding. Not much exciting except at one stop light the car in the lane next to me didn't realize the car ahead had stopped and even though the light had been green for some time, the car ahead of that one was not moving and the car she was about to run into was not lighting up it's brake lights. And there was that alarming sound of skidding to a stop rubber. Not a soothing sound when on two wheels.
Soon the stretches of city road became longer and after a few miles gave way to long stretches of open farmland roads.
From experience I have found that for the enjoyment of a ride on these back-roads that it is better to take a not so logical path. To ride in the opposite direction to connect quicker to the main back-roads.
This is the land of "back in the days roads" where each small town had it's own Telephone Company and there are back-roads with the names of the towns they connected to.
So riding North when logically I want South is the way I connected to an eastern heading road and came upon a road heading back south. Then turning on a road named "East Road" and East I went.
As I traveled I came upon many bends in the roads. I had decided to visit the next county over and a town called Snelling California. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Snelling,_California
I like visiting Snelling because on hot Summer days, like this one, the cool of the Merced River mixes in with the dry summer heat from the open dry grass lands, offering a refreshing ride experience and plus it's a lovely small town away from the City. Too bad "Buds Place" is closed down but the General Store offered a cold beverage.
On the way I was thinking of a book I read once called Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance and how simple stories relating to the ride become words of wisdom.
On this ride I thought about how some people may look at taking curves. I remember my training in the CHP Motorcycle riding classes.
They said Push on the handlebar in the direction you want to go. So push the handlebar right (turning the front tire left) to go right. This seemed wrong after all we turn the tires in the direction we want our car to go so why not be turning our front tire in the direction we want to go when we are in Curves on a Scooter/Motorcycle?
It is called Counter-steering.  It is my experience that handling curvy roads is much more enjoyable if I am not trying to lean and turn the tire in the direction I want to go. I site over-steering and being out of position on curves. Sometimes dangerously.
I find pushing the wheel in the opposite direction to the direction I want to go (Counter-steering) and then also leaning a bit as I do is much better.
According to an article I am referencing here https://www.revzilla.com/common-tread/what-is-countersteering
Quote
If you want to have a hot debate among motorcyclists, you talk about oil preferences or countersteering. I think it’s a hot topic because it’s not well understood.

So what is your point of view?
Any issues on pushing on the steering in the direction you want to go?
I'm thinking a lot of inexperienced riders do not even know what counter-steering is. A discussion may help.
By the way I am not depressed after my ride.Mission accomplished!

General Discussion / Leg cover?
« on: July 10, 2020, 04:46:58 AM »
Riding in winter (California) can be hard because an hour on the freeway can lower my core temperature. Too much of that and I get sick.
I see a leg cover. Has anyone used "leg covers?"

General Discussion / GACK! California DMV sure gets their money.
« on: June 23, 2020, 10:35:15 PM »
OMG California has a long list of fees they have us pay to register a out of State Scooter.
Sales Tax and all it was $510.00 OMG

Then Just when I thought the DMV couldn't be more difficult add Covid-19 too. No new appointments and Social Isolation during registering "out of state" vehicles that require VIN checks.

Then they couldn't find the "Federal Sticker" so I now have to be reviewed by the California Highway Patrol VIN Inspector.

Too funny. Only 17 more days to the CHP inspection appointment.  Argh!

What the hell is a "Federal Sticker?"

I managed to buy a low mileage Myroad 700i from Ebay Motors at a total cost of what a new 300 out the door would cost.
I feel lucky. I am also a heavy set man so this is a good fit for me.

I thought to say hello here and since this scooter has 1900 miles on it I also figured I can learn from those riding their Myroad longer.

So hello!

General Discussion / Thank You for this Kymco Site
« on: June 21, 2020, 09:57:21 PM »
I understand Kymco Dealers are selling the 300s' and side by sides, for the most part these days.
No 500 cc scooters or larger. Looks like the scooter market is in decline, from what I can see.
So thank you for this forum.

I picked up a salvage 2010 People S 250 in 2014 with 2000 miles on it. That People S 250 has 25,000 miles on it now and is still going.  Not one day of regret buying a Kymco.
So, I recently won an Ebay auction on a 2015 Myroad 700i. primo clean with 1900 miles, it was exciting to get this scooter. It cost a kidney for shipping and tomorrow the DMV and the Insurance company get their cuts too.

So I appreciate this site. I went ahead and ordered a replacement air filter for the Myroad from Ebay, $20 for the filter and $40 for the shipping from Italy. I wish I had read the post here about who is selling kymco parts now before I Ebay'd that filter.

Well, I hope I hang out more often then I have. I hope to talk to other People S 250 and Myroad owners.  All I have are these scooters so year round rider here.

People 250 / Valve tool
« on: October 30, 2017, 09:38:55 PM »
Every time I adjust the valves on my P250S I wish I had the proper tool to hold the adjuster in place instead of needle nose pliers.

I have not sourced the proper valve tool and service manual doesn't give a part number for it.  Has anyone found or know where I can get one?

Doh! Ebay!

Okay I ordered a set for $15 8mm,9mm and 10mm

Thanks anyway.. Got post happy.

People 250 / Starter will turn on by itself.
« on: October 30, 2017, 09:12:33 PM »
I have had starter issues for a while but couldn't afford the down time since I ride my 2010 People s 250 as my only transport.
Below was the best advice I found from a thread called Starter runs on.

That's what I would suspect is the Ground terminal. Find the point where it attaches to the engine, and the second point where it attaches to the frame.

The starter relay uses the ground circuit for the brake light so if the frame/engine grounds are bad it will use the light bulbs resistance as ground, and over heat the contacts in the relay making the arc shut.

Just a maybe but I could double check these points. Loosen them p, and clean the contact area to be sure.

I have replaced solenoid now twice different brands.  Tested this newest one with jumpers and works as expected however the starter switch doesn't activate it now; not even with the old trick of tapping on the solenoid that used to stop or start Starter running.

This is a "Salvage" scooter I picked up with 2008 miles on it.  First Owner ran into a parking garage swing arm LOL! Plastic was the victim as best as I know. Busted up riders right side things and headlight assy I believe. Was salvaged but not so bright mechanic in my opinion who glued things back together. I replaced those parts as mechanic said there was no way to get parts; yeah right.  Price was right and scooter was running great so it was worth it.

This problem started as an intermittent horn issue and I suspected a "Ground" problem but progressed to sometimes it would not start and then became that starter stayed on (stuck) and then came on by itself at speeds above 50 MPH. Now I am seeing the battery drain and or not charge well.  By the way those small jump start devices really work!

I assume I am in for a wire trace, cleaning grounds as suggested and testing things with meter. I now have the time to strip all the plastic and do the work.

Should I opt to replace other parts to be on the safe side? Voltage regulator for example?

  I welcome advice !

People 250 / Carburetor Questions.
« on: October 07, 2017, 11:12:55 AM »
My 2010 People S 250 is at about 20,000 miles now and has problems during idle.
Taking this one step at a time, it is time to clean the Carburetor I believe. Once scooter would not go faster than 40 MPH with throttle wide open.  I read that would be a dirty carburetor. Now Scooter Idles rough and there is a clunking at times from what I suspect is the clutch and scooter stops running at idle.
I figure to take this one step at a time.  Not sure why there is a clunking sound at times and Scooter stops running but I plan to start with the Carburetor first.
I have never worked on Carburetors so this concerns me. Perhaps I would be better off replacing Carburetor? I like that idea over rebuilding it myself.

Advice ?

Downtown 300 / 2011 Downtown 300 is it C.A.R.B.
« on: October 01, 2017, 03:46:07 AM »
I am looking to buy a 2011 300i Downtown that was registered in Montana and I am in California.
Would the Kymco Downtown 2011 be C.A.R.B. ( California )?

I have been taking the freeway to school and traveling at speeds of 65 mph to 75 mph and the starter has been coming on and stays running. Drains the battery.

I have changed out the solenoid and the problem is still there.
I can Squeeze the brake and hit the starter button and that will stop the running starter most of the time. I have to be able to hear it before I know it's running so freeway rides are where my battery boils.

Today I decided to install a kill switch inline to the solenoid thinking I have a problem with the starter circuit. I was checking to see that my splices and wiring were good and the scooter started as expected and starter stayed running so I opened the circuit and the starter did not go off with an open circuit so as usual I tapped the solenoid and the starter did stop running however with the solenoid start circuit still open ( wires not hooked together ) the starter restarted by itself after 3 or 4 seconds and ran again until I tapped the solenoid.
This "sticky starter tap the solenoid" problem used to be a "on starting it would stick only" problem. This " Turns itself on " problem is new with the possible exception of one time last year but I am not sure on that one.

I have now taken to staying at speeds below 65 mph and taking the back roads. I can hear when I stop at a stop sign. This has been my normal usage meaning I usually keep it below 65 MPH and I usually do not use the freeway.

I read that this might be a ground issue.
I am considering replacing the starter.
Honestly I am scratching my head on this one.  I do not understand how the Solenoid is being activated if it's unplugged from the start circuit.

Any ideas of advice on how I can fix this?
