General Discussion / Hello - Remember me?
« on: December 16, 2018, 02:13:29 PM »
Just thought I'd check in and give an update. I used to be on this forum quite a bit but the last year or so, not so much. Life took over. I've been working 50-60 hours per week for the last year and a half. Didn't leave much time for riding. Especially this summer. I bet I didn't get on the scooter more than a handful of times and none of those were to really get out for a ride, mostly just to fire it up and blow some cobs out. Found myself in a situation with my job that made it difficult for me to enjoy going into work doing the thing I have always loved. I'd been working two jobs and then about a month ago decided to redirect my career. I quit my job and the career I'd been persuing for 30 years and now I'm back in school learning to drive the BIG RIGS. Yep,
I'm gonna drive a semi. Passed the learners permit written tests last friday and will be in the truck learning to drive from now til the middle of January. Already have a job lined up with what I believe is to be a great company and my new adventure begins.

With all of the work hours I'd been putting in, riding wasn't on the agenda. Not sure how it will work out in the future either because with the new job I'll be gone M-F and home on the weekends. Sure wish I could get the wife to get on one of these two wheeled scoots. Then we could go together. She has no interest. Just gonna have to see if I can force myself to make the time next summer even if it is just for a couple hour ride here and there.

Good to see that the "Old Guard" is still here taking care of things and keeping things interesting. Now that I'm gonna be on the road I may take the opportunity to make this forum a regular stop once I get on the road with my new job. You still reading this and wondering who is this wkreps guy, well I have several videos on youtube (almost 100 on my 2013 Super8 150 and over 50 on my 2010 Xciting 500Ri) that tell a lot about how to do things to those particular models. My way of giving back to those who taught me. This place has taught me a lot and is a must for any KYMCO owner. See you on the road and maybe I'll be the one in that big rig.

4 parts to this one. I really hate to put this stuff into one video cause I think most people don't have time to sit and watch for a half hour. Think of it as a mini series.  ;D

Xciting 500 / Summer Start Procedure
« on: August 04, 2016, 06:49:42 PM »
Since my starting problems I had this past winter, I decided that even in the summer I'd turn the key on and then wait to start until the engine light goes out (fuel pump stops pumping) and then hit the starter button. This works but once in a great while (only twice this summer) it doesn't want to start and then I try doing the winter thing where I let the fuel pump cycle a couple more times and then try and start. I play hell getting the thing started but then once I do it is gone again for quite some time. I'm wondering if I'm flooding the thing cycling the fuel pump and how I tell if I am. Should I just try and start without waiting on the fuel pump? Is it really making a difference or am I just imagining things?

Super 8 150 / Confusing amperage on fuses
« on: August 01, 2016, 01:49:25 PM »
Have a 2013 Super8 150 and was replacing the tube fuses with inline waterproof blade fuses. There seems to be some confusion on the amperage of the fuses that are used. I’m getting 3 different ideas thrown at me and was wondering what your experience has been if you’ve changed these out and what issues you’ve had if any.

Owners Manual says:
7amp, 7amp, 10amp

Plastic covers over tube fuses labeled:
(white plastic), (white plastic), (yellow plastic)
7amp, 10amp, 15amp

Actual tube fuses in the scooter:
7amp, 7amp, 15amp

What I put in:
7.5amp, 7.5amp, 15amp

Technical | How To / Variator Nut

On my Xciting 500 the variator nut is quite large (not bragging  ;D ). I'm having trouble finding a socket that will fit it. What other tool would you reccomend?

Xciting 500 / Where to mount Accessories
« on: July 29, 2016, 07:51:51 PM »
A cup holder would be nice for long rides.
A place to put my GPS would be too.

I'm not a big fan of drilling into plastic fairings so I guess it is just the mirror stem. What have you done with mounting accessories? My problem seems to be that I'm 6 feet tall and that doesn't leave a lot of excess room between my legs and the handlebars. Not that big a deal for everyday riding but if I'm to mount any acc. then they need not take up any of that precious room I have there. What solutions have you come up with? Comments welcome and pictures appreciated.

Xciting 500 / Best MPG
« on: June 15, 2016, 02:35:57 PM »
2010 Xciting 500Ri

I've tracked MPG for every mile I've ever ridden on my scooters. I filled up yesterday and knew it was going to be pretty good because I had topped 150 miles and the fuel light had just come on. You can see from my tag line that I'm averaging just over 50MPG but when I filled up yesterday I got 55.3mpg (89kpg). What are you getting or do you even keep track. Let me know.
