People 250 / People 250 light stuff
« on: November 21, 2021, 05:17:32 AM »
Hi folks,
Looking at an older People 250 (not S, but might look at one of those too).
Does anyone know if this uses the same sometimes troublesome LCM that some of the other Kymcos do?
Does anyone know of any issues swapping to an H4 LED vs. the HS1?  I really would be swapping out all the lights eventually so any issues with that would be good to know as well (other than swapping the blinker module).

Thanks for any thoughts or responses.

People s150 / Real world info request for 2019+ People S150
« on: October 21, 2021, 04:28:02 AM »
Hi folks,
I'm in the market for a new light bike, & as you can surmise the new (in the U.S.) People S150i is on the short list.
I've looked it over, but haven't had a chance to test ride one yet for a couple reasons, but liked what I saw.
Since this has been out for at least a couple years in Europe I'm curious regarding a few things if ya can spare a minute.

- Real World Fuel Economy.
- Top cruising speed, preferably after break in.  KPH or MPH is great I can convert.
- Ease of maintenance.
- Ride quality.

Any help's appreciated.
Thanks
Tromper

General Discussion / 2021 Lineup Includes the People S150

First big wheel scoot from Kymco in a couple years.
Aimed squarely at the Liberty.

Stig if when things loosen up a bit you get a chance to compare 'em I'd love to hear whatcha got to say.

People GT 300i / Various questions.
« on: November 20, 2019, 09:54:56 PM »
Hi peeps,

It's possible I may pick up one of these beasts so I have some questions.
Some of this is scattered in the forum, but I though fresh answers and consolidating this data in one place would have some benefits.

  • What Windscreens are out there that hold up?  Read something about lexan being the best, any Lexan ones out there?
What year did ABS come in?
Should the rollers be dropped a gram or is there an advantage to keeping stock?
Do sliders work well in this beast, or are there reports of flipping or similar issues (Like on the Burgman 400)?
Are the stock tires OK or are City Grips (or other) tires enough better to warrant an immediate swap?
    Any other quirks worth mentioning?

Thanks for any input.

People GT 300i / How many miles/kms on your 300?
« on: November 04, 2019, 09:50:41 PM »
Hi folks,

Just curious how many miles folks are putting on these bikes before having to do significant engine work.

Any thoughts or data on that would be nifty.

Thanks

This was already posted in ADV, but since we don't have 100% overlap there thought I'd post it for those who aren't on that.

Pretty much explains it.

Congrats to riders out that way.

If nothing else it's a baby step the right direction.

Cheers peeps.

Technical | How To / Boric Acid on clutch pads?
« on: July 24, 2017, 11:21:28 PM »
Cross posting this in a few forums since it's applicable to any dry clutch potentially.

I've been doing some reading in preparation for de-glazing the clutch on one of my scoots.
Last time I did this I just lightly sanded the drum and the pads, but have read that apparently Boric Acid helps, & maybe cures this?

Anybody here use it?
If so:
How & where did you apply it?
Did you still sand the pads and bell?
If ya didn't sand the pads and bell how long did it take before everything de-glazed?

Thanks in advance

General Discussion / Turn Sig's in the U.S. Just in case ya wondered
« on: April 10, 2017, 11:56:02 AM »
I've always thought the non-U.S. bikes had a cleaner look to 'em, but had always head that there was a Federal reg against that.
In a spat of curiousity I poked around & finally found it.
In case you've ever wondered you can find it here https://www.gpo.gov/fdsys/pkg/CFR-2004-title49-vol5/xml/CFR-2004-title49-vol5-sec571-108.xml
The verbiage is pretty specific:

Horizontally, turn signals must be:
At or near the front—1 amber on each side of the vertical centerline at the same height, and having a minimum horizontal separation distance (centerline of lamps) of 16 inches. Minimum edge to edge separation distance between lamp and headlamp is 4 inchesAt or near the rear—1 red or amber on each side of the vertical centerline, at the same height and having a minimum horizontal separation distance (centerline to centerline of lamps) of 9 inches. Minimum edge to edge separation distance between lamp and tail or stop lamp is 4-inches, when a single stop and taillamp is installed on the vertical centerline and the turn signal lamps are red.

Vertically:
Not less than 15 inches, nor more than 83 inches.

Since the rest of the world gets by without it I think it's a bit silly, but as the French cest...la vie.

General Discussion / Electric "Tadpole"trike (vs. Delta) from ZEV
« on: April 07, 2017, 08:54:37 PM »
Xpost from ADV for thems what cover both.
http://zelectricvehicle.com/32.html
Kinda nifty, electric is pretty much the future at this point so I do keep an eye on 'em.
If money & storage space weren't an issue I'd seriously check one out.
Kinda pricey, but that's the "If money" part.
ZEV seems to be kicking out some nifty stuff. "Assembled" in USA of U.S. and imported parts even. Heck that's pretty much the description of most Fords, & certainly of Harley's these days.

If anybody owns/owned a ZEV please chime in I'd love to hear any real experiences with 'em.

General Discussion / Piaggio Liberty 150 S & non S
« on: April 05, 2017, 12:37:50 PM »

Looks like Piaggio is taking another stab at big wheel scoots.
Power spec looks pretty similar to the old People 150, & S 200, their noted top end of ~60mph is about right as well.
Only difference is the rear wheel's only 14", but you probably get a bit more space in the pet carrier in exchange for that.
Don't think I'll give up my HD for it, but I may go take a look.

Had heard about this a while back.
Thankfully he didn't get the same deal Ethan Couch got.

Figured it was worth cross-posting from the Burgman forum I haunt.

People GT 300i / Windshield Query
« on: January 23, 2017, 12:56:55 PM »
Hi folks,

I've seen some mixed reports on the Biondi, & Givi windshields, but haven't seen anybody mention the Puig, or the touring windshield that Kymco offers in their accessories.

Has anybody used 'em?  If so, any thoughts vs. the Biondi & Givi?

Thanks

People s200 / Auto Bystarter
« on: January 18, 2017, 12:00:03 PM »
I fear my S is a bit cold blooded.
My thought is that it's the auto bystarter (Part 16035-KEC3-90A) or possibly the resistor that runs it.
Anybody having any tips on troubleshooting that, or know of a cheaper replacement for the stock kymco one? (which runs 40 bucks plus shipping, & is evidently not made of magic monkey spit)

General Discussion / 2017 People S 150
« on: December 19, 2016, 08:19:13 AM »
So whatcha think folks, if this got to the U.S. would it sell, or would it suffer the same image issues that most big wheel scoots get in the U.S. ?

For me. I'd kinda miss the glove compartment vs. my S200 a tetch, but that's not a deal killer..
It has a couple more ponies (someone in the ADV forum noted 13.5 HP), & 50 lbs extra weight, so that's a bit of a wash.
New with FI on the other hand, has it's points to me, so I'd give it a look.

Frankly I doubt they'll bring it, & if they do I'm sure it'd be in your choice of black, white or grey, but I do think it looks like a nice, & practical bike.
