Venox 250 / Light bulb question
« on: May 15, 2014, 12:09:31 AM »
i am right now using Philips extreme vision plus, but still dont think it illuminates the road and objects enough at night, is there another light bulb i can try or is it a head light reflector design limitation?
Another question is do anyone know the bulb type for the position light for the front, its the little one below the main head light within the head light housing. i want to change the color of it.
was thinking of using this http://www.amazon.co.uk/Replacement-Headlight-Temperature-CERAMIC-Holders/dp/B007J49RV8/ref=sr_1_13?s=automotive&ie=UTF8&qid=1400112716&sr=1-13&keywords=motorcycle+headlight+bulbs#productDetails
but dont know if the stock housing can handle it...

Venox 250 / extra maintance for a smoother ride
« on: April 29, 2014, 02:48:51 PM »
Hi guys since the start of the season i have been on the bike on and off for the last month putting around 1000km to the clock.
This is the third season since i got her, and now sitting roughly at 11000km. few little things i would like to share with other venox owners.
1. always drain your bowls before winter storage! ALWAYS! this will save you time and money for a carb clean or using additives to wash the jets.
2. The springs on the auto valve chain tension devise is weak, if your bike has been sitting for a long time for example during winter please open up the caps on individual tension device and use a minus screw driver and give the device a little help by turning against the spring lightly to free the devise from long time stand still and rotate it with the force of the spring until a light snug(! dont over rotate the spring, 1/4 turns in and out repeatedly will be enough), repeat it a few time to free the devise. Caution when doing this for the rear cylinder since its difficult to get to and oil will drip out while the cap is unscrewed.  After this easy maintenance you will hear a significant change on valve train chatter.
3 during winter storage ; rotate the rear wheel so the chain is moved approximately 1/2 turns(meaning sprocket part to straight and straight part to over the sprockets) every month so that the chain is pulled evenly, this will make a smoother ride also at the beginning of the season.
4.  idle mixture screw on the manual is bang on 2- 1/2 turn out for a new air filter, if your air filter is one year old or having 1 oil change life(6000km+) on it turn then adjust  the screw in 1/4 to 1/2 in to achieve the same air to fuel mixture. pull plugs to check mixture by letting the bike sit idle after 1 min. both plugs should have a light brown coat on it.
I hope this helps if i think of anything i will post on this page in the future! Ride safe!

Venox 250 / Europe trip
« on: February 11, 2014, 12:41:38 AM »
hello fellow riders! as you know its slowly getting warm here in eu, spring maybe coming early, as my last year of med school comes along i am planing to make a trip from the east of europe to the west and maybe crossing the english isle, before i leave europe for good.
And i am planing to do it with the venox. yes!
I am a smaller rider; 165cm with 60kg dry weight... so this bike is easier for me to handle then a 650cc or bigger bike which should be used for this trip.
i estimated a month and a half for a round trip, going via south and coming back via the north, riding only in good conditions and to stay off the road as much as possible when its raining.  The bike as most of you who have one know is able to do around 300km give or take per tank, i will be going at a steady pace and not exceeding 110km/h with a cruising speed of 90km/h which is the eu non-motorway limit.
i really wanted to do this last year but missed the window but this year it will be my last shot at it.
Before i remember things to bring like tire repair kits, first aid kit, GPS, and i might add in a 10mm plastic round pistol... never know what i will run across dogs or wild animals.
anyone who wants to tag along for parts of the trip are more then welcome.
The bike will be sold as soon as i get back. hopefully you guys can see the google picture attached.
planning to leave early july and be back before the end of august, will start body building in june for the trip. the ideal distance is around 300~400km/day leg, riding on open road for 5 to 6 hours/day and check into a place to stay before night fall, look around the next day and head off to the next destinations the day after, so all in all 2 nights per stop.

Venox 250 / Windscreen for the venox
« on: May 26, 2013, 11:16:54 AM »
Hi guys after looking around i cam up with 2 screens that i am looking to get but cant decide which one will be better in looks and protection.
The small one i believe will keep the look of the bike and not cause too much resistance in high speed, and the bigger one... is bigger.
My problem is if the small one is too small to make a difference then i will go for the big one, but if the small one is enough to cover most of my chest then its ok.

as you can see my budget is around that area of 50GBP

Venox 250 / venox tire
« on: May 12, 2013, 04:12:39 PM »
Hi guys was out yesterday for a tank worth of ride with the group and the GF in the back seat, and during turns i realized that i am losing grip on the front, had to slow down big time otherwise it feels like the front is going to slide out.
An old chopper guy had a look and felt the tires and said the front was too old and hard for any good traction. the bike is a 2004 with original maxxis tires so i guess we are looking at 9 years...
anyways dont feel safe doing corners and any decent speed, so was wondering since maxxis are not making the 120/80 17 inch front tires does anyone know what other brands are out there?
was thinking about also wet tires for extra grip. any help will be very nice because want to change it soon for this season.

Venox 250 / rev limiter
« on: January 29, 2013, 08:24:27 PM »
hi guys i have a quick question.
Anyone know the max rev limit or when does the ignition limiter kick in.
reason is want to fit a tech meter on it and needed to know what should be the maximum number on the clock face.
i saw there are 8000rpm been fitted but then i read that the maximum should be more then 10500rpm because this is when the bike produces the max 28 horsepower. so should i get one around the 12000rpm range?
many thanks!

Venox 250 / season end for 2012
« on: December 04, 2012, 08:54:27 PM »
Hi there all Venox owners, it is the end of riding season for 2012 in the northern hemisphere.
Hope you all had a good time riding your bike s this year.
I wished i had done more, but I guess that is what I will improve on in 2013.
Here are a few things to do before the covers go on.
1. Wipe and wax including lubrication for the chain and other products for rust prevention
2. Take a ride to the gas station to fill the gas tank to the top
3.  Drain the remaining gas in the float bowl after getting home
4. Take out the battery and set phone to remind me to charge it every month and refill the electrolyte level
5. Optional: drain oil and take out the old oil filter, then reassemble lightly to keep air and dust out
6. Cover on and see you in April. If your bike will not be in a place which is above freezing then drain the coolant and mix a new batch of anti freezing agent.(do this before 2.)

Venox 250 / Fuel for the venox
« on: April 19, 2012, 03:42:21 PM »
Hey guys looking like everyone is enjoying there season, with little to no posts. here is one for everyone to join in on and discus about the fuel we are getting!
i normally run till 250km per full top off regardless of the fuel light because i know if i push it i can go way over, plus its a good control on the settings and engine condition. just this last fuel up after 10km of riding something was different, bike will not rocket anymore and felt like it missed a cycle on one cylinder for a pull out of the lights and lower idle with difficult starts in the morning. was very frustrated, took it to the mechanic and the problem was bad fuel, even on a warm engine it did not fire up on a push of a button.
so guys watch out about your fuel, our bikes are sensitive! try to get the best pump every time and if you find one stick to it!

Venox 250 / venox running rich
« on: February 23, 2012, 05:33:28 PM »
hi i have a venox show room bike from 2004 got it with 190km on the clock and now it should have around 3000km, i am the 1st real owner. the bike is running rich, and would foul plugs. the mixture screw on both front and rear carbs. are all the way in. whats the next thing i should check? Carbs stripped and cleaned 3 times already... but did not use carb cleaner, only compressed air. i have ordered new air filters which are on there way from Taiwan. i was thinking that it might be the paper air filter sitting there for 7 years already being totally blocked. at the 1st 2000km it was ok kind of and then at the last few 1000km it started to get it real rich in gas.
Oh dear forgot the intro: Hi everyone i am Max. Born in Taiwan, spent my teens in UK and now in Romania and soon to be Canadian.
