Super 9 / Super 9 won’t start!
« on: October 17, 2020, 07:19:30 PM »
Ok! Here we go last weekend I replaced the stator put a new piston in , replaced all the gaskets and used sealant and change the spark plug! Rode it for about 20 minutes and it cut out! After 5 mins it started! But then died again! And now won’t start! !
There seems plenty of juice in the battery, but obviously dies with continuous using of the electric start (kick start isn’t any better)! So i stripper the carb! Gave it all a good clean! Ensured all the mixer screws was set to what it was before I stripped it, Drained the fuel tank and added new fuel, cleaned the spark plug and I have a spark! But the bloody thing not start! It sounds like it is trying desperately to start when I pull the throttle but it doesn’t seem to have enough to get to the final stage of starting! The carb does have fuel in it as I have undone the screw and it comes out! Fuel is coming out of the vacuum pump and the carb has enough vacuum to draw fuel! I am scratching my head constantly as I can’t seem to figure this out! Any help would be appreciated before I give up and ever pay of a bike mechanic to look at it or accident light a fag next to the carb when the fuel pipe is off 😂😂

Super 9 / Oil light 50cc Super 9
« on: October 10, 2020, 01:41:13 PM »
Can anyone please advise me why the oil light is on when the engine is running? There is Max oil in the tank and oil is coming out of the pipe at the engine end! I have disconnect the connector for the sender unit on the oil tank, and the light is off! What is for the light for? I assumed it was for low oil!
Thanks

Super 9 / Possible school boy error!
« on: September 22, 2020, 08:47:53 PM »
I replaced the stator on my 2009 Kymco AC 9. The reason I changed it as it wasn’t charging the battery and tested the battery , rectified and wires so it pointed to the stator as no voltage increases when the bike was ticking over!
When I fitted it, she fired up then started to make a clunking noise  ::) So I shut her off And took the cooling fan back off and realised I hadn’t tighten the bolt enough to hold the flywheel in place! So I retightened it properly this time and reinstall the cooling fan! I then tried to start the bike and it bogged out and now won’t start! After a few minutes of trying to start it the exhaust back fires! I checked the spark plug and it was very black so I gave it a good clean and tested for a spark which was fine! I also checked to make sure the piston was moving encase I damaged the crank shaft but I could see the piston moving up and down!  So again I tried to start it and it just kept turning over and then a back fire! I have used the kick start and the electric start! Still no joy! But after a couple of kick starts the kick start would stop half way and wouldn’t go any further unless I took my foot off and then i could do a full kick! I removed the stator again and the spindle seems solid, no play etc, so I took the crank shaft casing off and the start motor clutch is loose, is this normal? It only seems to be held in when the toothed wheel is in place!  When she try’s to start it acts like the battery is flat, but it’s not as it’s fully charged, not a healthy turn over
So question is what have I done wrong 😂😂

Super 9 / Stator replacement
« on: August 21, 2020, 12:14:40 PM »
I ordered a new stator for my Kymco Super 9, it arrived the other day so I thought I would have a crack at it today! When I took the flywheel off the current stator had 6 parts on it, but the new one had 8! Now when I ordered the new one it showed it fitted my model! So I assumed this was an after market stator and having 2 more parts on it didn’t matter! I then released that on the old wiring from the stator there was a black wire coming off before the plug to the loom and connected to another wire, the new one didn’t have this! So again I though not original! I put the stator on, but couldn’t put the fly wheel over the stator! I then took the stator off, and it appears the stator is too big for the fly wheel!
Now my question is should I of brought a new fly wheel or is it basically the wrong stator?

Super 9 / starter Motor Issues
« on: June 14, 2020, 10:31:01 AM »
I have got a 2009 super 9 AC! The electric start packed in a while ago! So I thought I would finally try and fix it! The first thing I done was charged the battery to ensure it had enough power in it! The battery currently registers 12.3 volts! After the battery was charged that didn’t seem to work! Although I did hear the electric start relay clicking! So I brought a new one, thinking it was possibly the relay! Same problem 😂😂! So I moved on to the starter motor! The motor is getting power and registers around 7.5 volts when the electric start button is pushed! So Atleast it’s getting power! I have removed the starter motor to ensure the spindle moves freely and it does! I have hooked up the starter motor to a battery and connected a negative and positive source and the starter motor spins! Any ideas??? As I can’t really understand why it won’t work! As it’s getting power from the battery, the electric switch seems to work! But it won’t turn over when it’s reconnected! Should the starter motor be getting more volts? As it was tested directly from the battery!
Please help as my head is hurting from all the scratching 😂😂

But the back light, front light and side lights don’t work! The indicators work and the flash (high beam) works! But obviously there is an issue! Where is the best place to start my investigate with my multi metre?

Super 9 / Super 9 not starting after sat still for 8 months
« on: August 31, 2019, 11:15:14 AM »
Hi
Got a 2009 super 9 it was being used until feb 2019 and since then it has sat still! I have tried to start it today! And it doesn’t want to play ball! I have checked the spark plug and it seems to be given I string spark! The battery is completely dead so the electric start won’t work! And I have plenty of fuel!
Any ideas? Is it worth charging the battery and try the electric start or can I put jump leads on the battery to give it some life?

Super 9 / Super 9 Mot Failed! Need Advise. Head Bearings
« on: April 26, 2018, 10:59:14 AM »
Hi
My sons Super 9 was attempted to be stolen in December this year, and the lovely pleasant people who decided they want the bike for themselves broke the handle bars, which I had to replace. Now I took it in for its MOT today and it failed on the following

1. Steering Headbearing has Excessive Free Play
2. Steering Movement excessively rough with the weight on the lower bearing
3. Steering Movement excessively rough with the wheel raised

I am ok with general DIY mechanics, but would this be a big job? Any advise would be appreciated

thanks

Super 9 / Ignition barrel wiring!!
« on: December 11, 2017, 07:06:56 PM »
Can anyone help?
My sons super 9 was attempted to be stolen over weekend! They have damaged a few things, but one thing I am struggling with is they cut the wires at the back of the ignition barrel! And I don’t want to replace the whole barrel, one main reason is that I can’t get the bolts off, so was wondering if anyone knows what wires go to what at the back of the barrel ?? I have traveled through wiring diagrams and it only shows the wires not the back of the barrel ! I have attached a picture so you can see what I am up against !!
Thanks

Super 9 / Steering issue after attempted theft!
« on: December 09, 2017, 08:11:39 PM »
Hi, I was wondering if anyone could possibly help. Someone tried to steal my sons 50cc . They have broken the steering lock, which isn’t an issue, but now when you turn to steer the wheels don’t move with the handle bars at the same time. For example if I turn the handle bars at say 90 degrees to the left the wheel will move about 30 degree. The question I am wondering is the handle bars to the front wheel one complete price or two? And was wondering if it would be an easy job to fix?
Thanks

Super 9 / Super 9 Electric Start Issue
« on: February 24, 2017, 03:21:50 PM »
Good Afternoon,
I was wondering if anyone can help me with this issue i have with my sons bike. He has a 2009 Super 9 50cc, and the electric start doesn't work, when you push the electric start button you can hear it click, but nothing else. I dont think its the battery as i can put the lights on and they work without the engine running! Obviously not as bright as it is when the engine is running or at revs. But i cant seem to figure out why it wont start? I have searched the web but it only seems to be issues with it not clicking, were my sons one does.
Thanks

Super 9 / Spare wire from battery
« on: November 06, 2016, 09:58:45 AM »
Hi just joined the group. I have brought my son a super 9 which does need some work doing to it. I have just taken the battery off so that I can give it a charge and there was two positive wires and two negative wires connected. One of the set of wires has a connector at the end of it but it isn't connected to anything! I have had a look and I can't see what it should be connected too! Can anyone help? I have added a picture of the wire! Also the electric start don't work! When you push the electric start button it just clicks! Any ideas? I think I maybe posting more issues at some point lol! Thanks
