Super 9 / regular gas
« on: November 24, 2017, 04:49:53 PM »
I got confused and filled up with regular gas last time.  I think we are supposed to run high test, which I have always run in the past.  I went ahead and rode it to see how it would run.  Seemed to run fine, no issues, plus may have been the way the wind was blowing, but turned 10,000 revs on a section, seems would usually never turn much over 9,000 before.

I used to run low test regular in 2 cycle 100cc engines I raced on kart, was the recommended fuel, at high rev's it burns faster and works better than high test.  Maybe, the same with these engines too?  Cheers

People 50 / Re: De-Restricting my 2009 People 50 - Exhaust Question
« on: November 16, 2017, 05:06:11 PM »
I had 2005 People 50 2T and the OEM exhaust was not as restrictive as later models.  I assume 2002/ 2003 would be similar to my experience with 2005.  I think the 2002/ 2005 OEM exhaust will be similar to aftermarket stock exhaust like Silent Sport.

My 2005 exhaust worked very well, but like mclark999 said, an expansion chamber exhaust will give the most power.

I still have my 2005 OEM exhaust, send me a PM if you would like to buy it.  Cheers

Search on web "how to wire scooter alarm system", should give some ideas on how to disable.  Good luck!

I didn't have a rubber adapter for Malossi 19mm Dellorto carb kit.  As I recall, there was a bolt on metal adapter that carb slipped over and was held on with a clamp.  ref Malossi 19mm Carburetor Kit for Kymco 50cc 2 Stroke Model M1611028

For parts search the web, dealers are good, and needed, but have highest prices.  Search for parts detail for your scooter and get part numbers for the parts you need.  Then search the kymco part number, and all kinds for deals will show up.  Cheers

The 2T oil tank is under the seat, raise the seat and you will see the gas lid that screws on, and the oil lid that pushes on.  If you look close near the oil tank opening, you will see an image of the marker that is inside the tank that indicates the tank is full.  Cheers

So, intake hose missing means air entering carb directly without going through airfilter?  If so, running too lean, will not run well especially at lower rpms.  No tach probably means you have AC engine, not LC.  Get your carb tuned, then worry with CVT.  Cheers

Hello Tim, does yours have tach?  Runs 50mph is pretty good, so it's making decent HP.  Get back with more info, I suspect you need to tune CVT.  Cheers

if 2T, oil probably OK IMO, but easy to drain and start over with some good 2T oil, I recommend synthetic, more expensive, but less issues long term, good luck

Hello kev, I have used 2005 People 50 2T cylinder, head, piston in good shape, check your messages.  Cheers

I think carb not getting fuel, auto petcock is notorious for not working on these Kymco scooters.  Open the carb bowl drain screw and fuel should run out after you have kicked it over a few times.  You can replace the auto petcock or replace it with a manual fuel valve.  I installed aftermarket pod airfilter and choked the carb by wrapping a plastic grocery bag around it to pull an extra vacuum to get the fuel flowing, works every time for me.  Cheers

Super 9 / Re: Watercool converstion

as I understand it, Super 9 LC engine is different engine than AC.  I haven't done it, but I understand not that hard to convert your AC engine to LC.  You get the LC 70cc kit and add an electric water pump and radiator.  I wouldn't do it, too much work for me, but many have.  Cheers
