There isn’t a lot of info posted out there so I am going to post what I know or have found out trying to hop up my daughter’s 2015 Kymco Mongoose 300. We ride sand, so the mods I have done may vary from others needs.
1. The stock sprocket is a 38. Kymco has a 40 tooth rear that can help turn sand paddles a little easier.
2. Through EPI, having them look up the DVX 300, a maroon torque spring is available with 3 purple clutch springs that fit into the secondary unit. The primary stock roller weights are 25 grams. The dimensions are 23x18. I replaced them with 20 gram weights. It wakes up the clutch/bike tremendously. Now it will spin paddles

3.  The Countershaft sprocket can be replaced with different sizes. I believe stock is 14 tooth. Planet racing has a 13,14, and 15 available. Stock with paddles, clutch, and 40 tooth rear sprocket work well in sand.
4. The stock exhaust sucks and is restricted. HMF and planet racing sell exhausts. An exhaust makes it smother and more powerful throughout the power-band. 
5. With the stock constant velocity carb you can’t take the air box lid off. So I ordered a Mikuni 32 VM carburetor, right side idle. There is a two and four stoke model, and I can’t remember which one is which. I think the 32-33 is the four poker carb. I’ll have to look at mine. To get it to fit in the stock intake boot I had to take a millimeter off the front to get it to fit. I could of bought a new rubber Mikuni intake boot but became impatient. I used a Terry’s trx 250R throttle cable with a 90 degree bend and threaded to make it low profile. There is not much room between the tank and the top of the carb. Then you’ll need to get a new 2 1/8 diameter hose from the carb to the air box. I temporarily flipped the air box boot and it fits the carb and the air filter. There’s a gap around the boot and air box.
PJ Motorsports sells a carb kit, yet the stock choke cable isn’t long enough to fit the Mikuni carb. Paul is the owner and his kit would work. Now it runs great without the air box lid. I need to see now if I can eliminate hoses.
6. Web cam does a regrind for the Arctic Cat DVX 300 and Mongoose 270/300, but you have to send you cam in. Naraku makes a cam shaft they sell through planet racing USA. The Naraku cam says it will only work with their top end. I emailed Naraku and they said this isn’t true, that it would work on a stock motor. The only thing about putting in a cam is bumping up the compression and I don’t know if anyone offers a higher compression piston. I think I am going to buy the Naraku cam in a couple of weeks to try it out on my daughter’s Mongoose 300, so I let people know what I find out.

You can put an exhaust on it, change the carb to a Mikuni VM 32 and take the air box lid off. Look at some previous forum postings, I listed clutch components for it. You can put on a web cam or a naraku cam too. It says you need a big bore kit, but you don’t. I emailed naraku and they gave me the okay on a stock mongoose 270/300.

So I removed the stock carb and put on a mikuni 32 vm carb so I could remove the lid to my daughter’s air box, and I am happy with the results. Has anybody done this also and what jetting are you running?

Mongoose / Air box lid and exhaust uncorked on a mongoose 300

So on my daughter's 2015 mongoose 300 I uncorked the exhaust and increased the main jet from 108 to 112.5. I removed the airbox lid, and of course it pretty much idles. I give it some fuel, and falls flat on it's face. For those who have removed the lid to the airbox, what did you rejet to pilot jet, slow jet and main jet to?  The stock pilot jet is a 38, slow jet is a 60, and main was a 108. Plan is to put a full exhaust on it with K&N filter and outer wear.

Update Kymco no longer sells the clutch kit for the mongoose 300. It is discontinued. I called EPI and ordered the maroon secondary spring and purple primary springs. I ordered roller weights from racing planet. Stock roller weights are 23x18 and 25 grams. I ordered 20 grams.  It was around 30 dollars for the roller weights. I ordered a 13 tooth sprocket from Racing Planet. There is a 13 tooth sprocket available for the kxr 250 that fits the mongoose 300. I ordered it and put it on. The 13 tooth sprocket fits perfectly. Now this quad will perform decently at the sand dunes. This ATV now has a 13 tooth counter sprocket and 40 tooth rear sprocket.

Update. I finally ordered a clutch kit for my daughters mongoose. EPI was no help. They had no idea what parts Kymco's kit used. The guy that I had talked to no longer works for them. I'll have to give an update after our trip to the dunes.

Talked with KYMCO today, and the stock roller weights are 25 grams. Called EPI just before, and they recommend going 5 grams lighter on roller weights. Guys from EPI are great. They didn't see anything for the mongoose 300, and after digging around they found the components are the same as the MXU 500. This is what the guy said from EPI.

Now I know what components to order for the clutch, I wonder how much improvement a HMF exhaust and a K&N filter will do.

Just bought my kiddo a mongoose 300. She is blind in one eye. We went to the sand dunes, and it did alright with a larger rear sprocket and paddles. It needs a clutch kit though. I can order the EPI clutch kit from Kymco, or I can order the parts from EPI. The reason the I think the clutch is beneficial, is because there isn't much torque or power to spin the tires quickly on a small incline. The four wheeler just gets stuck. The sand was pretty soft.

My first question is what are the stock clutch roller weights and what weight do you recommend for riding in the sand?  What color of springs do you recommend also?
