Title: Left Hand Threaded Mirror Extenders?
Post by: Stig / Major Tom on November 13, 2017, 07:26:13 PM
Anyone have a source for 8mm x1.25 left-hand threaded mirror extenders (AKA, "risers, extensions") ??

8mm ones are not common - add 'reverse thread' for one of them & it gets real sporty.
I have found one in Asia - but looking for some on my home continent!

Thanks, Stig

Are these for the Piaggio Stig?   I know the Like mirrors are pretty close together but I thought the Piaggio would have been much better.

Well, I don't fault the scooter. My gear is so bulky in the winter or when rain is possible that I want longer mirrors.
Accomplished this on the LIKE200i with very long stemmed FAR (Italy) mirrors;  on the Honda Forza with mirrors from the CB500X bike; on the Burgman with 2" stem extensions sold in the U.K.

Going to try using velcro over/straps around elbows to compress the layers.

Like a circus bear on a tricycle - I'm really too big to be riding any scooter. My son keeps prompting me to take his tall CB500X for my rides.
But I like imagining I'm a 5'6" Italian going for a cappuccino in Rome.
(I quit looking in storefront windows yrs ago)
Ahh me....

Spoke with a guy in Italy the other day. There are plenty of mirror options for Vespa mirrors there. My Liberty uses the really nice mirrors as found on Vespas. At $20 ea. they are truly a bargain.
Hate to toss them ,,,so will try those billet extenders which I dislike.

Hope it works out.  Putting Vespa mirrors on my Like was the best thing for me.

Why not just get something like this https://www.amazon.com/Mirror-Riser-CNC-Extenders-Adapter/dp/B007NIPI86/ (https://www.amazon.com/Mirror-Riser-CNC-Extenders-Adapter/dp/B007NIPI86/) and something like this
https://www.amazon.com/8mm-Thread-Mirror-Adapter-Conversion (https://www.amazon.com/8mm-Thread-Mirror-Adapter-Conversion)

Kinda annoying to have to get 'em both but it does solve the problem.

I also spotted this which notes use of reverse threading aka Yamaha
https://www.amazon.com/Mirror-Riser-Extender-Adapter-Zuma/dp/B008TYNKLK/ (https://www.amazon.com/Mirror-Riser-Extender-Adapter-Zuma/dp/B008TYNKLK/)

I think the Vespa mirrors are an amazing bargain at $20 each !
I'm working on the head-ache of dealing with reverse mirrors extensions, backwards threaded adapters, 10mm into 8mm threads, etc,....and trying to fit it all into the deep set Piaggio mirror mount sockets.
Well, snowing tonight - so I have time to try to sort it out over the next few weeks. I'm not quitting until I can see behind me on the scooter.
Always amazed to see that some riders remove one or both of the mirrors - or put them down by their fists on the grips - taking their eyes WAY too far off the traffic ahead for my taste.

Anyway...I press on .....sure hope I don't have to go to the goofy long things I had to put on my LIKE 4 yrs ago! Hard to believe some Italian hasn't created a mirror to solve this common problem which so many have with Vespas. (wishing again that I was 5'6")
