Title: Wider aftermarket mirrors for People 150
Post by: CheesyRider on June 27, 2017, 02:24:52 PM
I'm trying to find good mirrors that stick out farther than the stock ones.  Unfortunately, it seems like none of the mirrors out there actually give the measurements.  This makes it somewhat difficult to make a choice.  Anyone here find some good mirrors?  I'm tired of needing to lean over to see what is behind me!

I had the same problem with my People. I got some larger wider ones off Ebay and put some 1" round blind spot mirrors on them. It is equally if not more important to get mirrors that are higher, not just wider. Low mirrors are dangerous because you have to take your eyes completely off the road to check them. Search for wide 8mm motorcycle mirrors. The mirrors I got are no longer available.  :(

Agree about dangers of low mirrors. ...requires looking too far away from traffic ahead.
I installed long stemmed Italian mirrors, and swung them forward near my line of sight. Enables me to only move my eyes slightly.
Really like them, though they look goofy. Who cares....I ride a scooter!

Thanks for the replies!  I ended up getting some cheap bar-end mirrors on Amazon.  I had to make a spacer for the throttle side mirror, but otherwise they were very simple to install.  The new mirrors are much better than stock for seeing what's behind me.

Do you mean the inside diameter of the handlebar was too big on the throttle side? Thanks.

My mirror extenders work just fine on the XT.  To quote the wife, that extra inch and a half makes all the difference!

I sold the scooter in 2018 and I don't remember exactly what the issue was.  But, I'm pretty sure it had nothing to do with the inside diameter of the handlebar.  Whatever it was, I do remember it was an easy fix that almost anyone could figure out.
