Title: BRIGHT YELLOW 400i
Post by: mattler22 on June 17, 2017, 04:11:53 PM
ITs only 3 weeks old and so far I`m amazed with it!!!!!
It looks really modern and aggressive lines etc (IMO)
The power, power delivery and torque are mind blowing for something that weighs in at 200kg!
With a top box and side panniers plus the huge space under the seat, the touring options are endless.
Its really comfy, even going 3 hours without a stop.
Its handles really well for a big scooter (admittedly not when fully loaded)
My only negative is that its very tall but for no obvious reason as ground clearance is no better than my super 8 150

That is a nice picture of your bike. At least it is not a bright yellow. This would the type of yellow I would buy if it was the only yellow for a scooter, or a car.

Very nice.
Where are you....no 400 Kymco in USA.
Could you roll it out in the daylight for a few more pictures?
Thanks,  Stig

Thanks for the photos.
I like that color.....Honda and Suzuki I think also made yellow maxi scoots.
Red, white or yellow maxis - I like them!
Well done.
Please share your service experiences, too, as they come along.

That's a very nice looking scoot'.
I'm a bit envious because we don't get 400's here in the USA.

If you don`t mind me asking, what is your seam length and how is the leg room?.
O ya, how much does it weigh?.
Title: Re: BRIGHT YELLOW 400i
Post by: mattler22 on June 18, 2017, 06:31:48 AM
I take 32" waist x 30" so if thats my seam then I`m 30"  my height is 5` 6"
Its fine as far as leg room goes and you get the option to have your feet horizontal like on a normal scooter but also stretched out in front of you on the 45 degree foot rests (like on a harley Davison) which is where I have them most of the time as its mega comfy and also spreads out the weight pushing onto the seat as the backs of your upper legs get support also. This in turn then eases and strain on your lower back, however the lower back is also supported as it has a small backrest :)
The scooter weighs 200kg but you only feel the weight when its stopped

ITs also worth mentioning that at my height regardless of where the suspension is set, it is quite a lump to move around with your feet down though.

Very nice scoot and a featherweight compared to my 275kg MyRoad 700i which is a beast, lol. Nice looking patio and yard also.

I would love to have a blast on a 700!!! I can only imagine how torquey they are :)
Anyway, on a slightly linked topic please fell free to have a look at a MAXI-SCOOTER specific forum I`m developing with a friend.
I thought it would be a cool idea to have a place for all the bigger variant owners to compare ideas across different manufacturers.
Anyway, even if you dont post on there, please feel free to register :)

Many thanks

Throw in a DT 300 sub-cat and I'm in.
May be a good reason to leave it out......😉

What does the group really feel a 'maxi scooter' really is ?

I had heard the Helix 250 was the first of the maxi class, yet now wonder if the Burgman AN400 might be better qualified as a maxi ??

My own personal opinion (as there seems to be no clear definition) would be a scooter that has the ability to go above and beyond just cutting around a city or commuting to work

My personal opinion of a maxi-scooter is one that is highway-capable. My Kymco 150 is great for surface streets at 45 mph but is not practical for highway travel, therefore not a maxi. (But a great, fun scooter) My Helix will cruise the highways no problem. The Burgie seems to be the most ubiquitous of the maxis these days.

I consider the Helix to be the first maxi scooter due to it's long wheelbase and capability of using the freeway. While at the time there was also the Elite 250's it doesn't qualify in my opinion due to the shorter wheel base and more upright stance.

List of some of what I think are maxi scoots Honda Helix, Honda Reflex, Honda Silverwing, Honda Integra, Honda X-ADV, Yamaha Morphous, Yamaha Tmax, Suzuki Burgman 400, Suzuki Burgman 650, Aprilia Atlantic 500, Aprilia Scarabeo 500, Aprilia SRV-850, Gilera GP 800, BMW C 650 GT, BMW C 600 Sport, MAXSYM 400i ABS, Kymco MyRoad 700i, Kymco Xciting 500, Kymco Xciting 400i, kymco AK550.

Yes, freeways, especially with congestion, are treacherous no matter how you are using them !

In comparison, the weight class of autos makes them a formidable adversary.

I'm thinking control, power, speed, and agility are best to present a good offense, which is always the best defense.

With my carcass aboard, the Helix is OK, but does not inspire confidence, especially when traffic gets congested.

I'd probably feel better if I could bring home one like Mattler's Brite Yellow 400i !!!  :-)

A lot different now on the Helix vs. when we still had the 55 mph speed limits when I had mine. Also color made a big difference in being seen, my red one got noticed a lot more than my white one.

:-)

Yessiree !

There is nothing stealthy about my Yellow Helix except the stock exhaust note !

It's fun for me to have the Brite scooter that brings a smile to the faces of people.

Kind of a reminder I must remain on good behavior.  lol

I ride a candy glory red Helix and wear a yellow dayglo riding jacket. And I have two auxiliary led lights mounted on my front fork. Seeing and being seen is the name of the game friends.  :)

"Does this scooter make me look fat?"  ;)

lol

More like, will it hurt me if I drive over that guy on the scooter...

...Like that nice little old church lady who said, " I didn't see him ! "  After I became her new hood ornament.

Perfect day, clear WX, I was at the tail of a long string of traffic when she left the stop sign 30ft from my lane.

Oh, that was many years ago.
